Supporting BKKBN in developing SCM guidelines, together with the issuance of the newest Head of BKKBN’s Decree, revising the provious Decree no 286 year 2011

Government of Canada together with UNFPA Indonesia, Government of Indonesia, and UNICEF work to improve sexual and reproductive health and rights for women and young people in Indonesia through a joint programme aimed at increasing the quality of skilled birth attendance (SBA) and thereby decreasing maternal mortality

In the district level, under MyChoice program, JHPIEGO has trained in total 252 service providers from 91 health facilities in 16 pilot districts/cities for the implementation of post-partum FP services in the past year. JHPIEGO also established 10 new training centers for Provincial Level and 23 new training centers for Regency / District level to support the implementation of post-partum FP services. JHPIEGO also implemented tiered/level training system at the district level in MyChoice coverage region.

Supported by FP2020 RRM, during 2018-2019 Yayasan Kusuma Buana (YKB) conducted a series of advocacy efforts for workplaces in Subang district to be able to provide family planning services for their employees in their private clinics. Encouraging the collaboration efforts among company clinics, primary healthcare facilities, district health office, district FP office, resulted in a follow up plan to conduct FP services in the companies.

During 2015-2017, DKT Indonesia regularly conducts CTU training for private midwives with legal certification from JNPK (Clinical Reproductive Health Training Network), which in 2017, a total of 1,100 midwives in 9 cities were received the CTU training. During the same year, a training of trainer (ToT) for post-partum IUD inserter was held in 5 provinces which resulted a total of 150 trainers of private midwives.

Supporting the TMA research.

JSI through MyChoice program supported BKKBN in conducting contraceptive TMA. The assessment used two methodologies : 1) analyzing demographic data document and compared it with the use and services of BKKBN’s contraceptives; and 2) assessment from private pharmatical industry based on their logistic data to validate and complement the data used in other methodologies, as well as to understand the contraceptive availability, access, and clients’ preference on contraceptives products. This study aimed to support the government in decision making related to budget allocation for supply chain.

Connected with the post-abortion comprehensive cares scheme that is developed by IPAS, IPAS actively provided training and capacity building for health providers, collaborated with local organization in district level.

JHPIEGO supports BKKBN in the capacity building related post-partum FP services for training facilities in the provincial level so that materials and training competencies are pooled in the provincial level and can be scaled up in the districts level partnered with hospitals and other healthcare facilities.

As one of the largest private providers, DKT Indonesia provides a range of contraceptives, available in private healthcare facilities to accomodate diverse range of preferences on contraceptives (aside from the ones supplied by BKKBN). There are 4 types of contraceptive pills (combination, combination + Fe, lactation, and post-emergency pills); 2 types of injection (1 month and 3 months cycle), 6 types of IUD (CTU 380, IUD safe load, IUD sleek, Silverline 200, Silverline 380, Post-partum IUD inserter, and IUD TCU).
