The Demographic Institute of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia (LD FEB UI) was established on August 1, 1964 to answer the influence of population size, composition and growth on national development in Indonesia. The founders of LD FEB UI (Widjojo Nitisastro, N. Iskandar, Kartomo Wirosoehardjo, and Kartono Gunawan) have a vision for the future that the demographic or demographic aspect is one of the most important factors that must be included in the development model, especially in developing countries. Demographic thinking is integrated into the economic development policies that are being carried out by the government to formulate long-term development plans.
