Civil Society Groups including AHBN, SACOM, KADMAM, BASAM, COMIN, HERFON, CHR, Kebbi State Advocacy Core Group and ARFH are working tirelessly to advocate to government to ensure health budget meets 15% Abuja Declaration health financing commitments

Nigeria has fared in the funding of FP. The current financing gap stands at $142.2million for 2018 as reflected in the FP costed Implementation Plan. The National Reproductive Health Working Group convenes meetings quarterly to review funding gap and suggest critical areas on how to address it including domestic resource mobilization. With support from Federal Ministry of Health, Africa Health Budget Network, UNFPA, BALSDA, USAID, CHR and TCI technical support is being provided to ensure the funding gap is reversed.

Providing capacity building for CSOs to analyze annual budget and also provide mentoring support to CSOs to develop BHCPF and GFF performance which track budget performance with key recommendations and actions.

Through the BHCPF the Nigerian Government is expanding its fiscal space for health to the tune of US$150million or NGN 55.1 billion for primary health care strengthening and service delivery. With support from World Bank, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, GFF and Federal Ministry of Health, Ministry of Finance

The remaining $20 million was committed from the GFF Trust Fund. The Grant agreement was signed but funds yet to be disbursed.

$36 million was disbursed to state governments under the Save One Million Lives Initiative (SOML) to address areas covered under immunization, family planning, antenatal care, post-natal care, nutrition and insecticide treated bed nets.

The Federal Ministry of Health in collaboration with International Development Partners have trained a sizable number of CHWs both at National and State level to deliver a range of FP services including LARM. With support from DKT, Federal Ministry of Health, UNFPA, USAID, Jhpiego, MarieStopes and Pathfinder and TCI is supporting at the state level to trained CHEWS and LARM to deliver a range of FP services e.g contraceptives

FP commodities worth $ 35.331 million were procured with support from UNFPA and USAID. In addition, a new warehouse facility was commissioned to provide critical storage space for public health commodities at the central level, enabling the Ministry to ensure the provision of quality, life-saving health commodities for Nigerians through a central facility.
